slow response typing in powerpint X

I am running Mac OS 10.2 and Office 10.1.5 on a dual processor Mac G4

When typing in a .ppt slide, the response is so slow that regularly
one or the other letters are missing. I am not a 10-finger typist, but
a two-finger search and hit typist, hence, not very fast.
I have to type really slow in order to get a whole sentence on a
slide.

Any solution to this problem?

Hi

Well, you luck out in that your problem is very unusual. I don't think
anyone has posted this one before. I haven't noticed one, anyway.

Have you tried any troubleshooting steps? If so, what have you tried?

Things that come to my mind...
Have you accidentally installed two copies of PowerPoint?
Have you run disk utility first aid to repair permissions?
Do you have any other programs running (little haxies, any other OSX
managing things?)
