Slow response when browsing files

When selecting file Open or clicking the Open folder to
browse for a file I get a very slow response. It takes a
very long time to update the browse windows moving
between folders on my local system. This happens when
using any office product in the Office XP Suite.

All default file locations are pointing to C:\Docs and
Settings\username\My Docs. Office has been uninstalled.
All related files and registry settings deleted, service
packs installed, but still the problem continues. Visio
2002 is installed and has no problems browsing files.

Any one experience this before?
