Slow running

I am running Office XP Home on a new Dell 250N Laptop on
XP Home OS. When I 'Save As...' in any office programme
(Word, Excel, PowerPoint), it takes ages for the
directory tree to show, and ages to change to the right
folder. This is not the case in other non-Office
programmes. This started recently. Any ideas what is
slowing it down?
