Slow save with Word XP on Windows 2000 Server

K

Kees Mulder

Ok, I've have looked at some of the possible solutions in
the Knowledgebase, such as Norton AntiVirus, SMB, etc.
But, saving a word file (very small) is taking about 3-5
seconds. System runs WinXP Pro SP1, Office XP, 100 mb
network, ip-access. When doing a save of the same
document on a Win98 with Office97 and 100mb, the save is
instantly, not even a second.

I'm lost, please, anyone, a suggestion?

Please be reminded that we have tried most of the KB
articles on Win2000 and WinXP. But, no result sofar.

Have you eliminated Outlook journaling as a cause?

I will try that later today, althought I know that
Outlook is not used, for e-mail Outlook Express is used.
But, Word may still write date to Journaling. I have used
Filemon from Sysinternals, but I can not find anything
wrong in the logging.

Suzanne,
Can I contact you by e-mail later to send more detailed
info on the logs etc.?

Contacting me would be useless, as I have no expertise in this area. Note
that if Outlook is installed (even if it is not used), journaling is enabled
by default.

Outlook journaling was not active, Outlook was not even
configured, when I started Outlook and configured it to
do nothing with e-mail etc, it asked me if I wanted to
activated Journaling. I responded with 'NO'.

So I am still lost, can anyone else help?

regards,
KM
