Slow startup and loading of files in Visio 2003

A user reports the following problem with Visio 03.

Startup time for Visio 2003 is around 30-45 seconds.
Load time of Visio files is about 30 sec or more.

Visio has never been this slow on his workstation before.

The user has 1 gig of ram and a generally ok workstation.

Is there any known ways to improve this to a more statisfactory loadup time,
or will he just have to deal with it?

Typical Visio launch time is 2-3 seconds, so something seems wrong. You
might try Detect and Repair from the Help menu to see if Visio can find any
issues. Does Visio show a message about configuring the application when it
starts up?

For slow file load times, what drawing type do you see this with (e.g.
flowchart, org chart, floor plan)?

It seems the computer was quite cluttered with misc. files.
After a reinstall of Windows & Visio, the launchtime and loading times of
files was grealy improved.

I chose this solution since the user experienced a lot of slowness on other
applications as well, so I can't say if your solution would fix the problem.
