Try disabling your AV software then starting Excel. If it starts
right up, the slow start is due to the AV software and there won't be
anything you can do except disable it.

Disable the option in NAV for the Office plugin (Options ->
Miscellaneous -> untick Office plugin). Otherwise, still leave NAV
running normally

You know it makes sense.

thanks for reply.
is that means there is a problem in my AV software?
thx

See my reply - *DO NOT* disable your entire program (too dangerous).
Just turn off the Office plug-in option (it's not really needed
anyway; it's just a useless add-on extra level of security that will
slow your opening of Word & Excel anyway - whether it's working or
not). Turn it off, leave it off, even if Symantec release a patch to
fix the problem *THEY* caused (despite the fact that their website
tells you to change a setting in a Microsoft program).

You know it makes sense.
