slow to start excell and word

It also seems to make a right click anywhere slow up, too.

This just started this morning when I opened a doc I had
been working on yesterday. The doc was fine yesterday, now
it take 1-2 minute to start. It then began to happen with
excel also and it happened to someone that I sent the doc
file, too.

I have noticed in Task Manager that it takes a long time
to register and then it goes back and forth from "Running"
to "Not Responding" several times befroe it finally loads.

I have ran the most current version of Norton and tried
some other Microsoft suggestions to no avail.

I'm on 2000

Thanks

Help and thanks.

Out of curiosity, do you have NAV 2003 with the 1/07/04 updates. Among
other problems, it enabled virus scaning in OFFICE.

I do - but I was scaning office docs before -- since I
posted this I updated Norton again - disabled Norton -
checked (everything was okay) then enabled and it was okay
for a while -- now it's not.

Thanks

Hello.

I have the same problem on several computers that are all
running WINXP and Office XP. I saw someone's suggestion
to check NAV 2003, and I saw that the Microsoft Office
Plug In was enabled in the options. As a test, I
unchecked that option and tried to get into the same word
or excel file. Everything is back to normal. Files are
again instantly loading.

Thanks for the great tip guys !

Many newsgroups and users have similar problems. Appears to be related
to "certifications". Supposedly, the problem is being address. See the

Disabling Norton isn't enough. An option in NAV, the Office Plug-in,
is still functioning.

Either turn off "Enable Office Plug-in" in Norton Options or modify
your IE options as suggested in other post in this thread.

Personally I recommend disabling the Plug-in. This issue is only one
of the many problems it causes.

We had the same problem yesterday. We uninstalled NAV2003
and reinstalled it and the problem went away.

Good luck.
