Slow typing and response in Entourage Calendar

A few of our users are complaining about extremely slow response times while entering data into Entourage's calendar. They create a new event and start typing. Text will appear delayed and in bursts. We have tried rebuilding the database and we've made sure that all mail sub-folders do not reside as a sub to the inbox.

Spoglight is probably scanning your Database file. You want to exclude
the Database in Spotlight's preferences.

Open Apple menu --> System Preferences... --> Spotlight --> Privacy.
Drag your ~/Documents/Microsoft User Data folder into the window. " ~ "
indicates the current user's home folder. Each user will need to do this.

Thanks Bill, but that has been tried, along with ignoring the MUD folder in Time Machine. Any other suggestions?

We had this similar problem on a few machines at work (maybe all of
them) running Office 2004 and 2008. Then one day I noticed it was no
longer doing it and so did my co-worker.

While we have no evidence to support our idea, we assumed a patch or
update to our Exchange Server resolved the issue. If you haven't
already, make sure your server is fully patched.

Slow switching to the Calendar was fixed with this. Not something you would
expect, so there is probably something similar that is causing your problem.

Possible culprit: flagged messages (flagged messages are now considered a
type of "to-do", by the way.) One user reports, At one point I had about
2000, and would get stuck for 5-6 minutes. I unflagged most of them, but I
still have a couple hundred, They now slow me down to about 30 seconds
switching to calendar and then flagging messages.

I would test in a new Identity with a new test account on your server. With
no mail in this account using the default preference setting in Entourage,
do you see this behavior?

This would eliminate settings on your server.

Thanks guys. The server is fully patched, but I have not checked for flagged messages. I will jump on one of the machines on Monday and take a look.
