I've been testing Entourage 11.1.0 (Office 2004, SR 1) in conjunction with
an Exchange server for a few weeks now. I've had no problems except that
when either composing a new message or even just selecting a new message in
my InBox, I get the dreaded "color wheel" while typing every other line or
so, and the screen will not display what I am typing (or trying to click on)
for several seconds (since obviously the program is busy doing something
else). It *seems* to me that what is happening is that Entourage is busy
synching my various folders/contacts etc. while this is happening. But
shouldn't this be done "behind the scenes" in this day and age, so that it
does not interfere with my trying to actually use the program? Is there any
solution to this? I want to distribute Entourage to my 80 plus users so we
can replace Outlook 2001 running under Classic, but hesitate to do so until
this is solved. Anybody else experience this problem?
Other details: The testing has been done running Entourage under OS 10.3.5
thru 10.3.8., on a G5 dual 1.8 with 1 gig of RAM.
