Slow updates to server from MS Project

I'm running MS Project 2002 and Project Central 2002.
Updates from MS Project to the Project Central Server have
suddenly started taking forever. Even the "Test
Connection" button in Colloboration Options takes 5
minutes to respond.

The web interface to Project Central on the other hand
seems very fast.

Is this a known issue? Any help would be appreciated.
