I just got a new computer hoping to be able to handle a lot
of photos in a word document. I'm writing a technical
book. The new computer is operating with windows xp (home)
is a pentium 4, 2.4 gH, with 512 mb memory, an 8 gig hard
drive. It should be really fast. I installed MS office
2000 professional, but I noticed some differences in my
version of word, such as an automatic task bar for .pdf and
under help is says it is word 2000.
But when I go into my word document, hit insert - picture -
from file and go to my jpg files folder those files come up
very slowly - taking several minutes to load before I can
select one to insert into my word document.
My old computer which is supposed to be much slower, was
operating with Windows 98 and Office 2000 Professional.
Doing the same thing - the pictures load almost instantly.
Why is this happening and what can I do?
