slowing down of microsoft outlook

Please help me with this problem. My Outlook 2003 keeps slowing down. It
consumes about 100MB of RAM and the message "outlook is not responding. If
you are using an Exchange server e-mail account, you can cancel pending
server requests by clicking the Outlook icon in the notifications area, and
then clicking Cancel Server Request on the shortcut menu". By the way, there
is no server being used. PLease help!!! THank you.
