Slowness opening Word docs

I am having the WordApp.Documents.Open function take a very long time
to complete, about 20 seconds. It also takes that long if I just
double-click the doc in Explorer and open it in Word.

The doc is only 8 pages, and it is on a local drive. I have turned
off my Antivirus. Can anyone shed som elight on why Word takes so
long?

Is the template the document is based on also on the local machine?

I had this problem a while back and this resolved it. Of course... your problem may not be the same.

Check to see if the template that the document was based on, exists. You can find out what the path and template name are by opening the document in question and selection Tool\Templates & Add-ins - the document template details are show at the top of the window.

If the template does not exist anywhere on your machine, you can solve the problem by deleting the template details in this field. Save and close.
