Sluggish operation of Word; OS X 10.2.8

Richard

I have successfully run Word on my dual 1 MHz G4 for more than a year
on OS 10.2.8 ... using 1.5 Gb RAM.

However, recently Word has become sluggish. For example, it requires
13 secs to open the program, then requires 38 secs to open a one-page
document when the program is open. If the program is NOT open, it
requires 56 secs to open the one-page document. And remarkably, more
than 100 secs are required to close Word.

What is going on ??

Any suggestions are welcome.

One more thing. All other programs behave normally. And I have
removed Office and reinstalled it ... but Word continues to be wonky.

Corrupted Normal Template is my guess.

Re-name your Normal template and see if that suddenly brings it right.

And PLEASE people, stop "reinstalling office" just to see if it fixes
things. It NEVER does :)

When you re-install, by design it does not alter existing files, no matter
how bad they are.

If you really want to reinstall, you MUST first run the Office Remover tool
from your Application folder or your CD.

Cheers
