I need to set up a client database and be able to share
the clients details with other programs, for example i
need to be able to send all the client or a group of the
clients the same email, then I might want to send some of
the clients the same letter so I would need the names and
addresses for a mail merge. I also need to email people
lists of some or all of our clients and their details. How
do i do this without having to type out all the names and
details of the clients in outlook express address book and
then again in word for mail merge etc. Please help. I also
need to be able to update the database daily adding new
clients and noting whats going on with each client.

Thank you.

Hello Michelle,

You would notice that not many people are jumping to reply to your
question(s), since your questions are general in nature and they are about
building a whole application. I have been frequenting this newsgroup since I
do database programming at work (among other things <G>), the benefit that I
have realized from this newsgroup is getting answers for specific
questions/problems. The experts here are extremely resourceful and excellent
at the finer things of database development in MS Access. They are gurus.

If you're really serious about building such a database, I would recommend
investing in MS Access books from the local bookstore. Also, there is a
sample application that comes with MS Access called Contact Management. It
may not have all the functionalities you are asking for but it's something
you can start with and examine to determine whether you really want to do
this yourself.

So, in an attempt to answer your questions (i.e. sharing clients info with
other programs, group emailing, mail merge, and so on and so forth):

- Yes, they can all be done in Access, and not particularly difficult
either.
- No, I'm afraid I won't be able to show you exactly how since I would need
a lot more than one or two pages to show it.

Hope this helps,

Immanuel Sibero
