small files in root directory

outlook is leaving literally hundreds of small files in my root directory.
When I look in them with notepad I see that they are copies of my emails. I
upgraded to 2007 and still the same/ How do I stop this from cluttering up
my root directory.

Outlook doesn't do this. Most likely it is caused by your virus scanner; I
know at least one version of Norton did this. Disable its integration with
Outlook and try again.
