It is a feature that recognize certain types of data in a document such as in
Word.
For example, there are smart tag of dates and names. When you type text
such as John Doe, Word will automatically make such text as a smart tag,
visually indicated as a purple dotted underline. Clicking on a smart tag is
the selection-based search command to bring up a list of possible actions for
that data type.
To enable smart tag:
1. Launch applications such as Word
2. File > Word Options > Proofing tab > Select AutoCorrect Options button
3. Select Smart Tags tab
4. Check Label text with smart tag and select any types of smart tags you
want > OK
