SMARTHOST

Hi,
I've instaled Project Server 2003 on single computer and I would like to
configure mailing remainders in Project Web Access. In the instalation guide
I've seen an advice to write 'SMARTHOST' in SMTP configuration in web access.
Could anyone explain me why it was so?
Second question, could anyone explain how to configure smtp server for ps
2003 step by step? Or at least where to start? I've never done this before.

Smarthost is typically the IP Address or NetBios name of your email server.
You "May" need to configure the email server to allow relaying from the
Project Server if you notice that emails are not passing through.
