Smartphones

Thank you for your response...I think I should have been clearer. I have a
Palm smartphone...and will be upgrading to the TREO 700 with WM5.0. Can the
contact info in BCM 2007 be synched to that device?

At this time only Pocket PC sync is supported. Microsoft doesn't have any
smartphone application for BCM.

Does this mean that my contacts in BCM 2007 cannot be synched to WM 5.0.
because it is on a smartphone? But it would work a normal PDA? Or is it WM
5.0 that is a problem? (sorry for so many questions but I don't understand)

Kevin,

I can clarify this for you. WM 5.0 comes in 2 editions. 1) Pocket PC Phone
edition 2) Smartphone edition. The main difference between these 2 editions
is that the Smartphone edition does not have a touch screen and is
navigatable only via buttons. The confusion often arises in the use of the
word "Smartphone." The Palm Treo 700 (I assume this to be either the 700w
with Verizon or the 700 wx with Sprint) is not a Smartphone. It is a Pocket
PC phone with a touchscreen. You will notice Palm's own verbiage on the box
refers to this as a smart "device."

The bottom line is that you can use your WM 5.0 Pocket PC phone edition
device with BCM. To do this you will have to either download the sync
utility that MS has available for this or you can use an excellent 3rd party
developer @ www.chapura.com. Remember to to always distinguish between which
WM 5.0 device edition is in use. Chapura also has 2 different apps to sync
with BCM for those who are using Palm OS Treo devices as well.

Best wishes,

-THP
