If you are using McAfee Antivirus on the server, make sure that it is not
blocking port 25.-- This can be found in the virus console under the access
protection properties.

Are you seeing any transport errors in the event log?

I am getting a similar message on my project server, only my error code is
0x800ccc6a. It has something to do with carriage returns and changing the \n
option to a \r\n options, and it beats the hell out of me as to where to
change it. When i researched your error cod (and I'm sorry that I didn't get
a lot of time just yet, it appears your error code is how Outlook Express is
set up. I will try to get mor time to look in to it.

We fixed our 0x800ccc6a errors this morning! We had to make a global change
to to our SMTP servers to whitelist the IP address of our project server and
set it up not use strict RFC Compliancy. We just received our first e-mail a
few minutes ago!

If you are routing your e-mail through an SMTP server, please have your
administrator check to see if they can do the same thing!
