I am a new apple user. I am currently using entourage and am having a
problem with my email account settings. I am needing to have the
option of 2 SMTP Servers for sending mail, entourage only gives me the
1 option. Is there any way around this?
A few options:
1. turn on the smtp server in OSX then just put 'localhost' in the smtp
server box in the account settings (Note that some ISPs, most notably AOL,
will refuse mail sent from such a server when you are connected to a dynamic
IP Address) - see here for details
<
http://www.entourage.mvps.org/exchange/postfix.html> (note that the page is
out of date - there is a Tiger version of Postfix Enabler)
2. set up a second account for sending only - put nothing in the receiving
mail server settings boxes, and put your second SMTP server in the sending
server boxes. This second account will be selectable from a 'from' dialog
box in the message addressing headers when you have more than one account
defined.
3. use a script to change you settings as and when required - there are
several scripts available at
