Snow Leopard and Word "glitchy"

EXTRACT:

"That's not to say all is perfect. There are reports of applications
that do not work or are glitchy in Snow Leopard. Some of the more
popular software that has reportedly had problems includes Microsoft
Word, Photoshop CS3 (which will no longer be supported for Snow
Leopard), Growl, and CyberDuck. But as with any OS upgrade, some older
applications will need to be updated in order to fully work with the new
system. As has happened in the past, most software will likely see
updates in just a matter of weeks to increase compatibility and
performance issues."

Add another to that list Acrobat 9.

under snow Leopard because of the new security measures. the adobePDF
print Driver that envoke distiller to create PDF no long works in fact
its not even allowed to be loaded within Printer Utility.

In order to create PDF's you need to invoke the Macintosh's Print window
select: Create PDF and from Drop down list choose Adobe Quality PDF.

this most likely will affect all Adobe products that use a version of
The AdobePDF Print Driver.

Just read the tech note on adobeforums website site. about an hour ago.

Gee... You mean MS isn't the only screwed up, inept, out-to-screw-us
software developer???? I'm shocked... Although I'm sure there will be some
who will devise a way to blame MS for it ;-)

Thanks for the info, Phillip.

Know I won't blame MS for this. the only screwup pertaining to MS will
be from MS Products.

There is one problem with acrobat related to, MS. Actually two but one
has been mitigated somewhat, by MS adding their own PDF Converter in in
2008 That was the problem of page and section breaks cause the pdf
creation Job stopping at each Page or section break and starting a new
job. with the new converter the only time that happens now is if there
is a swap in page orientation in a section.

The other that has never been resolved and probably never will because
MS corporate doesn't feel its important enough to put in the Mac.

In PC version of Word if links are created and then document saved as
PDF they work in PC Version of Acrobat but not Mac. Also If links are
created in Mac version of Word they do not show up in Acrobat Mac nor
Acrobat PC.

Adobe *claims* MS doesn't provided the necessary hooks to make links
work in mac. They claim the code for Acrobat for all intents and
purposes are identical with the exception code for the Mac interface and
PC interface.

Hi Phillip:

Adobe *claims* MS doesn't provided the necessary hooks to make links
work in mac. They claim the code for Acrobat for all intents and
purposes are identical with the exception code for the Mac interface and
PC interface.

Next time you're chatting with your mates at Adobe, you ask them what the
name of those "hooks" is :)

Because I don't think they exist ‹ on the PC either. I think they're just
too lazy to connect them in the Mac product. The PC product relies on a
lump of VBA, which is not there in Mac Word 2008. But it never worked in
Office 2004 either...

Cheers

And on a related note:

A similar situation has existed in Excel... When printing multiple
worksheets from any version of Mac Excel to PDF using Acrobat you'd wind up
with that number of individual PDFs. It's interesting that since Acrobat 9
has hit the street Excel 2008 has mysteriously cured itself of the flaw :))

It never has worked period on any version of Office nor acrobat.

I don't know whom is at fault. All I know is it just doesn't work.
