So difficult...Why?????

It took me 2 weeks. All I want to do is evaluate this app and prove
that it would be a useful tool for the organization. Even the
neo-luddites
could be converted if I can show a centralized project management
structure.

- W2K3 Server works pretty good. (DNS is still 100 times more painful
than
on Unix.)
- Sharepoint is installed and working well enough.
(There are some details, but the broad strokes are smooth)

- Project Professional is installed and working.

- Project Server 2003 is installed and working.

I finally was able to get an administrator login, and locally, I can
log on to project server.

Can someone please explain to me why when I create another user they
can't log on?

W2K3 Domain user: SCARLET\pgood

Created user in PWA SCARLET\pgood, user name pgood

Try to log in:

You are attempting to log on using a Windows user account, but you
do not have a Windows user account on this server. You need to change
the account in your profile or contact your server administrator to set
up your Windows user account on this server. (5002)

WTF???????

If you are able to access Project Server using the Administrator password
provided during installation you are fortunate!!

If you want to create new users adding them in PWA is a bit painful. Open up
Project Professional and create a Project Server Account, you can use the
Administrator details and make sure the account uses Project Server
Authentication - I tend to favour opting for "Manual Connection". Having
created the Project Server Account close Project Professional and then
re-open it and use the newly created Project Server Account, you may need to
make your instance of Project Server "Trusted" - do so.

In Project Professional go Tools>Enterprise Options> Enterprise Resource
Pool - the ERP will be empty at this point. A quick way to populate your ERP
is to switch to the Gant Chart view and then select the Assign Resources
option from the tools menu. In the Assign Resource Dialogue box click the
add resources button and if you have Active Directory chose that option -
from the dialogue box presented select several people or even a group. Once
you have finished making your selections you can then add these people to
the ERP.

Switch back to the Resource Sheet view and insert 2 columns "Windows User
Account" and email - this should hopefully display correct entries in these
fields - if you have a "friendly" email format such as "Joe Black" this is
not much use, it is better to have (e-mail address removed)

Save the ERP and close down Project Professional.

Login to PWA using the Administrator account and then go to the Admin menu
and select users and groups - the newly added resources should be listed and
should have authentication set to Windows Authentication, they should also
all be in the "Team Members" group - you can "promote" some individuals
later to appropriate groups in the default hierarchy of groups as installed.

Test and see if the added accounts can access PWA - they should go straight
to their home page when entering http://servername/projectserver
