software compilation database supporting barcodes

...please help me build one or download a template. i've found hundreds of
books and video templates but many need a lot of customization. which is
beyond my experience

databasing all applictions and other data from coverdiscs and self made
CD's/DVD's is a nightmare!!

the database template should be capable of
running queries, be menu/form driven and include,name, a catalogue number,
licence type (freeware etc..) and serial numbers, and on which disc the
application or document can be found, as well as publisher details and URL,
EMail etc. I personally would like to see support for barcodes. i have a
barcode scanner and would like some comprehensive way of scanning a barcode
and then the database bringing up the contents of the cd.
please please can
you guys do this ? or help me. i have access 2000 and would like to use it
to the full.
i have no need of web based lookups / operations at this time although maybe
in the future it could be a possible requirement

There is nothing special about barcodes: as far as a database is concerned
they are just text or numbers.

If you need software support for your hardware, then there are places to
look. I would start with the hardware supplier, then look at third party
controls manufacturers (<http://www.componentsource.com> and others), and
finally think about writing one.

Printing out barcodes is easy: you have your choice of picture-type
controls or TrueType fonts. Try googling.
