Solution: Meeting requests in Calendar not showing users' own free/busy

When scheduling a meeting in Entourage 11.2.4 (and possibly later versions)
our users could not see their own free/busy information alongside all the
other attendees' free/busy info. It was just gray or some other non-useful
colour. Again, the user scheduling the meeting could see everyone else's
free/busy information.

We have two email addresses at our organization. One could be considered
legacy (but still the default email address for all users in the
ogranization) and a shorter, more desirable address that we tell our users
to use. Turns out you have to use whatever is your default email address in
order to see your own free/busy information when scheduling meetings.

Yes, this is true. You also have to use the default e-mail address (no
aliases or alternative versions) for the invitees to see their
free/busy. If it doesn't match what the GAL gives you it will not work.

This, by the way, is kinda lame, especially where users cache addresses
locally (that may change) or when a recipient policy indavertently
turns "(e-mail address removed)" back into "Joe.O'(e-mail address removed)"
(as happened to us last week). It would be nice if Entourage would
check the GAL for authoritative info when no F/B can be found, as
Outlook seems to do.

Hi Michael,
When you say "for the invitees to see their free/busy", what exactly do you
mean? Are you saying that even if you have your own address set up
correctly in your Entourage client, that if the users you are inviting don't
have it set up correctly then you won't be able to see their free/busy?

Also, what does "F/B" mean? I've heard of B/E, F/E, and BFE ;-), but not
F/B.
