solved html problems in FP web on IIS

D

Dennis

Hi, this is a post to explain how to fix a strange problem with FP webs.

I have had problems for a long time with some components of my FP03 webs and
preview in browser. The html was changed automatically when previewing on my
local host but seemed ok when published online. Flash, java menus and FP
includes in pages were mostly effected. The html was changed automatically
somehow to reflect a very messed up page.

I reinstalled FP server extensions, reinstalled FP03, rebooted IIS (and my
machine many times) and in the end blamed Nortons Internet Security 2003 (it
seemed to work better with it off sometimes). Nothing I did worked.

I have now traced the problem down to my IIS install on XP Pro. I used
'add/remove' and got rid of IIS and then installed it again of the XP CD. I
then had to re-import the messed up webs again and when I preview them now
they are working fine.

Just thought I would let you all know just in case you come across the same
problem.

Cheers

That's great news! I'm sure you're not the only one it's happened to and
it's great that you posted back, hopefully someone with a similar problem
will bring up your thread on a search.

Thanks for that Chris,

I don't know a lot and therefore usually only receive help from the kind
people in this ng. The issue I had before really created a lot of problems
for me as I couldn't trust the pages I was publishing to my clients sites.
To solve it was a big relief and I would be very selfish to keep the answer
to myself. If only I could get my asp.net issue sorted now...

btw, I have been meaning to get back in touch with you for a while but been
flat out with work and issues. I still have a half completed email in my
drafts that I will complete sometime :)

Cheers
