Hi
I am running into a problem trying to use the Solver function. There are a few issues that seem to appear
1. When I select both Analysis Toolpak and Analysis Toolpak-VBA in the Tools->Add-ins box, Excel tries to compile, but returns two error boxes: first, a "Compile Error" notice, then a notice stating "Compile error in hidden module: VBA functions and Subs", and then it crashes. If I do not check the VBA version, this does not happen
The next problem, though, is the real issue, which is that I cannot get Solver to work even after selecting the Analysis Toolpak add-in. The problem seems to have started when I tried to run the Solver from a second user's (my wife's) account. Here's the process
1. I uninstalled & re-installed Office X and the ValuPak
2. I installed Office updates 10.1.2 through 10.1.5
3. I was able to successfully run Solver from my user account
4. I logged into my wife's account and launched Excel
5. When I select Tools->Solver, I get a strange dialog box that has only two picture characters in it (unfortunately, I can't copy & paste them)
6. Worse, when I return to my own account, I now get the same dialog box--Solver no longer seems to work
This is really frustrating, and I need to have Solver access. Any suggestions
My setup is
G4 Quicksilver, 1.15GB RAM, OS X 10.3.
I do have Office (and the entire applications folder) on a separate partition from the boot drive
Thanks
Jeff
