Solver For Excel 2008: Available By Mid-September

Pat McMillan

Hi,

Since the original release of Office 2008, there have been a lot of comments
in this newsgroup on the absence of Solver in Excel 2008. Since even before
that initial wave of feedback, we've been working with Frontline Systems,
the developer of Solver, to come up with a replacement to the VB-based
version of Solver in Excel 2004. I'm really happy to let you know that we
announced last Friday that Frontline Systems will be releasing a free
version of Solver for Mac Excel 2008 by mid-September!

For all the details, check out our post on this topic on MacMojo, our
Macintosh Business Unit blog: http://www.officeformac.com/blog/.

Thanks,

Hurrah.

Now all you have to do is make it possible to run VBA in Excel 2008, and then we'll have a spreadsheet package that we might actually want to use.

That ain't gonna happen:) but it has been announced that VBA will be
supported in the *next version* of Mac Office.
