Solving quartic equations in Excel

Hi,

Can someone tell me how to go about solving a quartic equation i
Excel? I know there are add-ins available but I don't want to us
them.

Do a search in

Search for All of the words quartic equation (sure you don't mean
quadratic?)

You'll find tens of links to similar problems and solutions.
However, I suspect you're after something else, because you don't want to
use add-ins. Why? Does it have to be difficult?

Hi,

Thanks for those links. I did mean a 'quartic equation'. I a
developing some spreadsheets for pedagogical purposes and didn't wan
to use an addin because that could obscure from the user the procedur
of solving a quartic equation.
