some built-in heading styles have been deleted

We have a situation at my firm where, believe it or not, Word 2003's built-in
heading styles 5-9 have been deleted from a document.

If I go in to styles and numbering, I can modify the missing styles, but
there is no way to apply headings 5-9 in the document with one exception: if
i modify heading 4 so that it is "followed by" heading 5, i can apply heading
5 by hitting return after a heading 4 paragraph.

How can I get Heading styles 5-9 back in our templates? I didn't even think
these could be deleted and have no idea how this was accomplished in the
first place.

Heading styles cannot be deleted, as they are built-in styles, but their
visibility can be controlled in Word 2003. Display the Styles & Formatting
task pane, and, at the bottom, select Custom, which will allow you to choose
which styles you want displayed.
