Some Docs not showing up in Projet Gallery

I've tried everything I can think of to get certain documents that I open more often to show up in my project gallery (that opens up upon starting excel), but it just doesn't do it. I've read of other people online that have had this problem, but have not found any answers, please help! Thanks!

Not sure where you're seeing the "problem" reported but it's most likely
just a matter of a settings change :) In the Project Gallery dialog go to
the Customize page & set the number of recently used files to whatever you
want... up to a maximum of 999.

Should that not resolve it be sure to include exact OS X & Office version
update numbers in your reply.

Thanks, that unfortunately did not do the trick, and it seems that dialog box doesn't have any other options that looked like it could remedy the problem.

Excel 2004 for mac version 11.5.5
Mac OSX 10.5.8

Thanks

Then what about the Preferences for the individual programs? In the General
prefs make sure the check isn't cleared for Recently Used Files.

Also, on the Recent page of the PG make certain that the Show: list isn't
set to exclude the file types you're looking for.

If we're still not on the right track you'll have to be much more explicit
about what type of documents you think are missing, why you believe they
should be there, whether this is something that has just started, etc.
"Certain documents" doesn't disclose much ‹ the more details the better :)

Yep, the box is checked. Also, the Excel document(s) I'm looking for don't show up when I select "Show All Documents" or "Excel Documents".

The docs are only missing from this gallery. They are Excel documents (although I may have experienced a similar problem with word and word documents). I think it should be there because it is a document I open at least once a day, change on the reg, etc, but it does not show up. Other Excel files I have created and modified show up, but not a few specific ones that I use more often. Does that help? Thanks

Hi,

If documents are located on volumes that are not currently mounted, then
Project Gallery will not display them. This is different from the most
recently used list on the File menus, which do display them.

In my experience, sometimes files located on the desktop are not listed
in Project Gallery.

I've tried moving the file to various places, saving it there, etc, but nothing works. Actually, a document that I just opened for the first time from my desktop was right there in the recent list on the project gallery. Any more thoughts? Thanks,

See if this makes for any improvement... Go to the following folder while no
Microsoft programs are running:

User/Library/Preferences/Microsoft

Remove/rename [Don't delete]: com.microsoft.Office.prefs.plist

Initially you'll lose everything in the PG & MRU list, but see if the errant
files start to be added as you go on to work with them. If all seems to go
OK it means that the prefs file was corrupt & you can delete it. Otherwise
you can return it to where it came from in order to restore what you
previously had accumulated -- and we'll have to look elsewhere.
