Some emails don't show up in 2008 Entourage - only 2004!

HI all!

This is a question on behalf of a friend and client of mine - and
though I can usually sort out her problems, this one has me stumped.
She recently upgraded from Office 2004 to 2008. She had been using a
combination of some 2004 apps and some 2008 ones (!) I helped her
switch over completely - imported her old emails and settings and she
was off to the races.

Now however, she reports that 2008 is not showing all her incoming
emails. She realized some messages were missing and so she re-opened
2004... and it showed all her messages including the ones that were
missing in 2008.

I confirmed that she hasn't been running them both at the same time -
she only reopened the old version when the new one seemed to not be
showing everything.

The "problem" emails don't seem to have anything consistent about them
- particular character in the name, etc.

I know that importing the messages into 2008 created a new User
folder... so they aren't both referring to the same database of
messages... but why would the new version miss only some occasional
messages... and why would they only show up on the old version? I
can't think of any reason.

I did a search on previous messages but couldn't seem to find the
exact same problem... I'm hoping this has come up before though and
has some kind of simple answer...!

Rebuild the identity in Office 2008 by launching Entourage with the
Option key down,
