Some Entourage deletes not syncing with BlackBerry

I have Entourage 2004 (11.3.6) connecting to an Exchange server, which
also runs BES for my BlackBerry. Certain deletes are synced to the BB,
while some are not. I don't know if this is due to a "flaw" in
Entourage, or indiosyncratic behavior from BES (or both), but here's
what I've found:

If i receive a message sent to my exchange acct and I...

....delete it using Outlook on a PC, or OWA on any machine, it deletes
on the server, and deletes on the BB.
....delete it on the BB, it deletes on the server, and deletes in
Entourage.
....open it in Entourage, close it, and then delete it from the Inbox
(using the main toolbar), it deletes on the server, and deletes on the
BB.
....open it in Entourage, and delete from within the msg window (using
the delete button in the message toolbar), it deletes on the server,
but does NOT delete on the BB.

this last behavior occurs whether or not the message was new or old
(i.e. read or unread when I open it). it seems solely related to the
difference between deleting items from the Inbox vs. deleting them
from within the message directly.

Does Entourage handle these two types of deletes differently?
