Using Word 2007, opening files from Worde 2003, some files (these are .doc
files)when opened are read only so that when they are saved have to use new
file name.
Occurs ONLY when files are quite large >10Meg or so. I have one file 9.8Meg
that opens normally, another 11.2Meg that comes up read only. Small files do
not show the problem.
I have a 21Meg file that comes up read only and when I save it under a new
file name, and then open that file, it too comes up read only. If I save it
as a .docx file and then reopen it, it is not readonly.
This problem has first appeared today. I have edited many of these large
..doc files since I first installed Word 2007 but this problem just started.
Thanks for your help
Unfortunately these files are distributed to many people who do not have
Word 2007 so I need the .doc files.
I have checked the file properties before opening and they are NOT marked
read only. In a folder with 20 files two that are large come up read only,
the other 18 come up normally.
