Some fonts will not display in Word's font drop down menu?

I have some new True Type fonts in my Windows Fonts
folder that do not appear as options in my Word 2000 font
selection drop down menu. How do you get these fonts in
that drop down menu?
Thanks for your help!

Installing Fonts:

From the Start menu, choose Control Panel.

Double-click on the Fonts folder.

On the File menu, choose Install New Font.

Navigate to where you saved the font file and select it.

Click OK.

The font should then install and be available in your
Windows programs.

Hi Margeo,

If you go into Insert/Symbol do you see these fonts listed
in this dialog box?

If you do, that means they've been "ear-marked" as symbol
rather than "text" fonts. That's why Word won't show them in
its regular fonts list. If you type the name into that list,
you should be able to use the font, though.

Unless Word 2000 is different from Word 2002 (and 97, IIRC), all fonts are
listed in both the Font and the Symbol dialogs. But some fonts in the Fonts
folder are not displayed in either because they are variants (bold, italic,
bold italic) of the "regular" font that is displayed. You access those
variants by applying the bold, italic, or bold and italic properties to text
in Word.
