Some hours not updated in OLAP

Hi,

We have this issue where sometimes the OLAP cube seems to not refresh
all data. It does say that the refresh was complete but some resources'
actual hours for the day before do not appear in the analyzer views.

We have verified that the resource did send the updates and project
manager did accept the updates before the OLAP build. So we cannot
point at the resource or the PM.

The only odd thing that I've noticed sometimes (not in all cases) is
that the project was not checked in that day before the OLAP build
happened.

Is it a best practice to check in/close all project files every day?
Does anyone know if leaving the projects checked out hinders the OLAP
refresh for that project's data?

TIA

Best Regards,
Dee

Dee:

Not only should all projects be in a checked in state, a best practice
no-brainer, equally important is that they must be closed at least once
before the updated information will completely populate. I suggest a
standard of closing all projects by the end of the day.

Thanks a lot Gary!! I really appreciate your prompt response. I can now
make this a practice and if I say "The Project Server Experts said it"
, it will be easier to sell :)

Another quetion on the same line:
We usually rebuild the OLAP cube every midnight and it takes about an
hour. However, when we built it during the day, it took only 5 minutes.
There were about 10 project files checked out, but we have over a 150
project files and 300 users. Some people might also be logged into PWA
when we rebuilt during the day. I am kind of curios about the big time
difference between the builds and what exactly is the cause.

Thanks once again!!

Best Regards,

I can't explain the time difference without knowing what's also happening on
the server at the same time.
