Some (not all) html messages are unreadable

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

My wife and I both have MB Pros - and are running Leopard and Office 2008, and have all the latest patches installed. At around the time of the latest Microsoft patch, one particular email (from dealnewsletter) is all but unreadable on my computer. On my wife's, however, they look fine. Strangely, all of my emails with the exception of the ones from dealnewsletter seem to look fine. In their emails - I can read the html code (it looks to be Arial, 14 or 16, bold) - the captions look to be Arial 12, and in blue (but I can't see the html code making it so)...and sometimes I get text in a one inch column wide that might stretch five or six inches deep.

Could this be related to the fact that my latest OS X installation hung? If not, does anyone have any other ideas? I'll be happy to post a screenshot on my own site, if that's allowed.

Many thanks,

Dave

Since OS X (10.5.6) didn't seem to install quite correctly, I downloaded it again and reinstalled it. That seemed to fix the issue...my latest copy of dealnewsletter just opened up fine.

Now, if only I could forward it! (thanks Microsoft, for not letting us forward html messages w/o losing the formatting)

I'm not sure if this will fix the problem, but try this frist.
Text is gibberish.

In addition to trashing the com.microsoft.browserfont.cache, you can also
try trashing the tasmanbrowser.cache, which will be found in your
~/Library/Caches.

Download and run the latest Apple combo. Now see if the problem still
exists. If it fails, test in a new User account that you create in System
Preferences. Let me know if the following works.

Download the combo updater from Apple and run it again rather than using
Software Update. Doing so overwrites potentially problem-causing files.
Combo updaters will install on the same version as they¹re applying‹no need
to roll back or do a clean install.

Leopard:

Mac OS X 10.5.5 Combo Update
(For both PowerPC- and Intel-based Macs )
<http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx1055comboupdate.html>

(note for a really bad update, you might have to do an "Archive & Install")

Tip: when installing major updates from Apple, Microsoft Adobe etc that use
installers, quit all running applications and hidden files by logging out/in
with shift key down. If there is a problem updating, any open files can be
corrupted. Restart after updating.

Many thanks Diane - I did not know where to find the cache. I've trashed both and reinstalled the latest update to OS X, and Entourage is working perfectly again!

Best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

If you don't need to edit it before sending it, you can send it as an
attachment, in which case the recipient can open it with the proper
formatting.

Diane,
Thank you for the link - I have it bookmarked.

Ed,
Thank you as well - I did not realize that I could send it as an attachment w/o losing its formatting. That's great to know!
