Some of my underlines are bold and shouldn't be

I made a one-page document. It is basically a list of items, with soilid
horizontal lines to the left of each listing so a person could fill in the
blamks. The lines are created in the text with the underline key + shift. A
few of the lines are extra bold in weight. I am completely baffled. They
don't seem to be made from the underline keys like the rest, and they are
spaced a little above or below the baseline. Thanks if you can help!

What you are seeing could be underline formatting (look in the Font dialog
box) or a paragraph border (Borders and Shading dialog box).
