I support a small office environment using Office 2003 in the US. We only use
Word and Excel, so I always choose a customized install. Whenever I run
Office update from the web, I'm told about "required" updates that I'm
missing. Some, like InfoPath, may be needed even though I didn't choose that
option when I installed (but I doubt it). But my favorite is the "French
Grammar Checker", always listed as a required update. Presumably the system
can tell I'm only using US English on our systems. We don't ever have a need
to edit French-language documents. IMHO, this should be an Optiona update.
Otherwise, I'm always going to see it in the "required" section, and one day,
I might accidentally miss an update that really is important (such as a
security update...) because I'm mistaking it for that French Grammar update.
It's the update website that cried wolf...
