I have a new HP desktop that runs Vista. I run Office 2000 on the
machine and I am very happy with it. Recently, my wife's office sent
her a PowerPoint file as an attachment to the e-mail. For some
unearthly reason, the sender decided to send along a programs file
that tried to load Office 2007 Student Edition on my machine. This
caused all kinds of problems. When I started up my Office 2000 apps,
it asked me for the code to load Office 2007 on my machine. Of course
I did not have the code and I wanted to get rid of it. I proceeded to
delete all of the files my wife received on the attachment. I also
was able to uninstall Office 2007 from the Control Panel. It all
seems to work ok for me now, however, I still have a problem. When I
try to open up my Word program, I receive a message that I am lacking
in a file to begin Word 9.0. It obviously has some file or command
lurking in the background that thinks I still have Office 2007. I
need help getting back to where I was before this whole saga began.
Just if you want to know..... I called the guy in my wife's office,
who must be taking courses somewhere which entitles him to the Student
Edition of Office 2007, why he sent along this program attachment. He
mumbled out something like "I wanted to try something out". He is an
otherwise sane individual.... I have no idea what he was thinking.
