something strange with Word XP

K

Karen

Hi,

I've just noticed something when using find and replace in Word XP.

If you are replacing a capitalised abbreviation with a non capitalised word,
Word XP replaces the word in all CAPS. e.g.replacing CV with Curriculum
Vitae, Word inserts CURRICULUM VITAE.

I've got the match capitals option unticked and can't find any other options
to check.

Has anyone else come across this using XP?
Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks
Karen

Hi Karen,

Find and Replace was designed to either match the case of the
replacement text or replace in exact case. Believe it or not you need
to turn *on* match case in order to replace in the case you specify in
the Replace with text box. :)
