Sometimes I have thesaurus, sometimes I don't!

Lately some of my documents don't have the thesaurus available when I
try and use it. I get the menu, go to synonyms, but all I get is no
suggestions. But I do get suggestions, and the thesaurus, in other
documents.

In fact, I've just discovered that sometimes my thesaurus in not
available in different paragraphs of the SAME document! You get the
thesaurus and suggestions for a particular word in one paragraph, but
no thesaurus or suggestions for the SAME word in another paragraph.

Can anyone explain this?

Hi G.S.,

For a word where you don't have the thesaurus available what proofing language is applied to that text in the style task pane,
Reveal Formatting. You may also have this happen with certain fonts that are internally coded as 'decorative' rather than 'text',
even though they may appear visually as 'text'.

With the word highlighted use Ctrl+F1 to bring up the taskpane and see if you get results using the Research task pane in Word 2003.

Hi Bob,

I have Word 2002.The proofing language being applied to the document is
English. The font is Times New Roman which I assume is not any kind of
"decorative" text.

I still have the thesaurus available in some parts of a document and
NOT available - for the same word - in another part of the document.
The font is the same throughout the document.

And I'm still stumped.
