SOMETIMES report footer goes to page by itself

I'm running Access 2003. I have created a report with column wrapping. If
there is only a little data and the report uses only the first column, the
report footer appears on page one with the data. If, on the other hand,
there is enough data to wrap to column two, the report footer jumps to page
two, even though there is plenty of space for the single line to print on
page one.

I have looked at all the properties I can think of and can't figure out how
to fix this. Can anyone provide insight? Thanks.

I wanted a grand total at the end of the report, so I thought I wanted a
report footer. If there is enough data to cover several pages, I don't want
page by page totals. Just one at the very end.

Well ... I'm stumped!

I have a report wioth 3 columns with a report header, page header and page
footer (no report footer) and the headers and footer all appear as you would
expect.

In design mode --- looking at the detail section of the report, do all the
controls start close to the left edge and do ALL controls fit within the
column width you've defined? Are there ANY controls (including horizontal
lines or anything else) to the right of this (in the "blank" area of the
detail section? For example, in a 3 column report, the rightmost two thirds
of the detail section should be TOTALLY blank.

Yup. All my data and totals appear within 2.75" of the left margin. With
only two columns, that should fit fine.

I'm completely stumped. Not sure what else to try.

Thanks.
