Hi folks,
Sometimes when I open a Word doc in Word 2003, the entire system hangs for
10-30 seconds, as if the CPU was pegged at 100%. When the problem occurs,
Task Manager doesn’t show any abnormal RAM or CPU activity, and yet the
entire system behaves as thought the CPU is pegged at 100%. Even though it’s
actually coasting along at 1 or 2%.
This is a very new system, so it’s not a resource issue.
Also, the problem is not consistent in that if I close the doc, then open
the same doc, the problem might not happen again. So it’s not just in
specific docs. I tried deleting the normal.dot, the Word Data registry key,
the COM add-ins registry key, and the Word Options registry key. I turned off
the Startup folder add-ins, and yet the problem still occurs.
Any ideas? How can I narrow this down?
Thanks very much for reading this!
