Sort by Month

I have a report that has a month and day field in seperate fields. Thought I
could sort the Month by entering =Month([Month]) in the Sorting & Grouping
area, but I get a Data Type Mismathc in Criteria Expression error. Why would
I be getting this error? Month is set up as a text field.

Your date field is not called "Month" is it?

Your statement should work as long as you use a field with a valid date in
it...

=Month([MyDateField])
