Sort by Subject - Select and Move Behavior

C

Chris Cantrell

Hi,

In Outlook, I had the ability to sort by subject, select the top level
header (which highlights all the emails) and drag and drop to move all the
messages to a sub-folder.

In Entourage 2008, I can sort and select but when I try to grab the top
level header, I can't move the emails. If I select all the emails (without
the header) then I can move. Is this the expected behavior?

TIA,
-chris

Hi Chris!

A developer, who just happens to work for Microsoft, gave a pretty good
explanation of the difference between "bug" and "by design".

A "bug" is when something is meant to work a specific way but doesn't.
It's broken.

The phrase "by design" could mean one of two things:

1. This is how we intended it to work.
2. We never thought of it working "that way".

I'd say what you've discovered is "by design #2".

Please be sure to let Microsoft know you'd like to see this feature in
future versions by using the Help --> Send Feedback mechanism in any
Office application. This is a great suggestion.

As a side note, you can select the top-level header of a sort and then move
the selected messages by using one of the messages. Still it would be nice
to grab the header :)

Thanks,
