sort question

Outlook 2003 (business manager NOT installed)

I have a rather large contact list, I was having problems with an SBE error
and did a fix described by a Microsoft KB article. I exported my contacts to
a cvs file the deleted my contacts and imported them.
All works fine other than now I can't figure out how to sort my contacts by
company name if there is a company name. I can get them sorted by first,
last or last, first without problem.
I can change each one manually but that will take forever.

Is there a way to make them show up (sort) by company name all at once?

TIA
Brian

Only if you have configured the File As field to show the company. Did you?

I'm not sure what you mean.
The company field is there.

The Outlook Address Book can be sorted by FN, LN or by the File As...field.
So you will only be able to sort by the Company name if you configured the
File As.. field to include the Company name.

I have it set to Company (Last, First)
will that sort what's already there or only any new contacts?

Only on new Contacts. That preference will not apply to existing Contacts.

Hi,
So how can I reconfigure all my contacts to be filed as First then Last name
without doing each one individually? I understand all New Contacts will be
as I like, but I have lots that were imported that are now listed Last then
First.
Thanks,
Frank

You'd have to use code for that. Take a look at this MS KB article, it may
help:
