Sort search on combo box

S

Stanley

I have a combo box that has the values 'i item' and 'internet' as items in
its list. I have Access running on several computers. On one computer, when I
type i followed by n the combo box locates 'internet'. On another computer,
when I type the n after the i, the combo box goes to the top of the list.
Any ideas. It appears to be a setting in Access, but I have no idea where to
look.
Thanks,
Stan

Hi Stan,

I know of no such setting in Access that would control the behavior you are
indicating, however, you might check the New Database Sort Order property,
found in Access 2000-2003 by accessing Tools | Options ---> General tab
(lower right corner).
Note: If you happen to be using Access 2007, then you'll need to hunt around
for a similar setting. I think you would start your search by clicking on the
Office button thing, then Access Options, but I don't have this version
installed.

Another place you might check on both computers is the Regional and Language
Settings in Control Panel. Can you duplicate this issue using a different
database, such as the Northwind sample database?
