I have the notes for my thesis in one 'master document' of over 500
pages (backed up several times!) The document contains notes on about
350 different items of literature, each item's notes beginning on a
new page. Some items will relate to just one section of the thesis,
others to more than one. I am planning to code each item, to indicate
where that item 'belongs' in the thesis. I will then need to split the
master document into lots of sub-documents, so that I have all the
items relevant to one section of the thesis in a separate document for
that section. So item 299 might be coded for sections A2 (part of the
Introduction) and D3 (part of the Research Design). My question is,
therefore: is there a way of automating what will otherwise be a long
and tedious process of copying and pasting? A long shot, I'm sure, but
I thought I would ask! Any help or advice very much appreciated.
