Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
I constructed a pivot table with multiple columns:
in column 1 is a code number, column 2 has a descriptor and column 3 shows the sum of the data for each code.
I can sort the table on column 1 but not on column 3 (which is the more important sorting criteria). when I try to use the Sort function under the data menu, it shows "Sort Data in descending order by code number:descriptor." when I click ok, nothing happens to sort the 3 column.
Alternatively, when I clicked on the online help, it says to click on the field and then click on the field settings icon on the pivot table toolbar and then click on the Advanced button to get to the sort criteria. The problem is that there is no ADVANCED button on the field settings pop-up box. THERE'S A DISCONNECT BETWEEN THE HELP FILE AND WHAT I'M SEEING. I'm running Excel 12.1.3
Once I can get the data sorted the way I want, I'll add additional fields.
Any suggestions?
thanks,
Don
